Bonnie Denney

Bonnie Denney was born April 12, 1940, in Tovey, Illinois, to Alvie Lionell Lewis and Helen Ruth Richter Lewis. She died October 18, 2023, in Talala, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years. Bonnie completed her secondary education in Tulsa and graduated with the Central High School Class of 1958. She was married May 14, 1958, in Turley, Oklahoma, to Jess Denney. Bonnie spent much of her working life helping in the cafeteria for Oologah Public Schools. She was also an excellent seamstress for many. She and Jess together operated an upholstery business for a time. She enjoyed working with Girl Scouts and decorating cakes, many of which she made for weddings. Bonnie dearly loved her family and was affectionately known as “Nana” to her grandchildren. She and Jess loved having all the grandkids spend the night all at once. They were also blessed with a chance to see God’s creation on many vacations, and she loved taking wonderful trips with her sister Ruth. Those she leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include: Her husband of over 65 years; Jess, of the home Three daughters; Kim Figgins and husband Pete, of Fredonia, Kansas Debi Wheeler and husband Chuck, of Claremore, Oklahoma Juli Kilbourn and husband Bryan, of Tulsa, Oklahoma Grandchildren; Jessica Tweet and husband Allen Amber Ratzlaff and husband Evan Joshua Figgins and wife Amy Kendra Schulte and husband Jake Amy Wheeler Kelsey Schultz and husband Nathan Sarah Mckusick and husband Matt Kaylene Kilbourn, Christopher Beebe, and Chase Kilbourn Great grandchildren; Ella, Liam, Ian, Addi, Natalie, Nicole, Asher, Ansley, Evey, Lily Julia, Jaylen, Ellie, Ben, and Jett Brother; J.M. “Jack” Lewis Jack and wife Frances Harvey Lewis and wife Judy She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, LaRoy Lewis, and a sister, Ruth McMillin. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023, at the Oologah First United Methodist Church with Pastor Shannon Rodenberg officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oologah, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Bonnie’s memory to the ALS Association, P.O.
