Cheryl Dianne Martinez

Cheryl Dianne Martinez was born on August 27, 1946, in Las Animas, Colorado to Buford Clyde Stine and Petronilla Carolina Stine Ellis (Munch). She passed away peacefully at her home in Owasso, Oklahoma, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 79. She grew up in Las Animas, Colorado where she met her lifelong partner and husband, Richard Martinez, also a native of Las Animas. Cheryl and Richard were married on October 15, 1963, and shared 62 wonderful years together, raising 3 children. Shortly after being married, their coast-to-coast adventures began, starting with California when Richard joined the Navy. The rest of their moves were fueled by Richard’s career in the airline industry and raising their 3 girls which landed them in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a gregarious, fun loving, family driven spirit that embraced everyone. In the mid-70’s she worked for TG&Y until 1980 where she chose to be a stay-at-home mom to focus on her family. She had a passion for cooking, especially recipes from past generations, which she passed on to her children. Cheryl had an opportunity, late in life, to work for Tulsa County, where she helped cover the switchboard. By the time she retired, she was the secretary for the Tulsa Board of County Commissioners. She loved working with everyone at the County, where she formed lifelong friendships. When she retired, they expressed missing her laugh, her no nonsense approach, her bigger than life personality and her amazing cooking. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, fishing, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with family. She is survived by her husband Richard Lee Martinez; daughters Janyll Lee Jenks (Steve) of Collinsville, OK; Kendra Elaine Manios (Johnny) of Collinsville, OK; and Yvette Dianne Martinez (Jeff Creed) of Owasso, OK. Grandchildren, Zachary Beau Jenks, Joshua Benjamin Jenks (Celeste), and Sarah Nichole Manios. Great Grandchildren, George Emerson Jenks, Henry Beau Jenks, Josephine Cooper Jenks, and Jonah Dewey Jenks. Sister, Cecilia (Cece) Marie Hawkins (Joe Bob). Brother-in-law, Patricio Armijo; Nephews Donald Eugene Armijo (Diane); Deborah Annette Holly (Craig); Patricia Marie Mayhugh (Michael); David Lee Armijo (Becky); Pamela Dianne Armijo and many more loved nieces and nephews and greats. Proceeded in death by her parents Buford Clyde Stine and Petronilla Carolina Stine Ellis (Munch); stepfather Wayland Ellis; brothers Charles LeRoy Stine, Carol Dean Stine, and Clayton Buford Stine; sisters Charlotte LaRose Armijo and Catherine (Cathy) Gail Samaniego. Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa Services will be held at St Henry’s Catholic Church, 8500 North Owasso Expressway, Owasso, Oklahoma at 10am, Monday, January 5th, 2025. She will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery shortly after the service.
