Douglas Loyd Gosvener

Douglas Loyd Gosvener was born February 16, 1956, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Calvin George (Short) Gosvener and Lora Wynona Jackson Gosvener. He died Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Ochelata, Oklahoma, at the age of 69 years. Doug attended his secondary education with Caney Valley High School in Ramona, Oklahoma. He was married December 20, 1974, in Vera, Oklahoma, to Melinda Sue Dean. He spent over 35 years of his working life as a welder. Doug enjoyed a variety of pastimes including building models and drawing. He also enjoyed time out on the water fishing. He was a fan of Johnny Cash and listening to his music. Doug dearly loved his grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as “Papa”, and attended any and most of their activities. Those he leaves behind who hold a lifetime of cherished memories include: His wife of over 50 years; Melinda, of the home Children; Lora Odell and husband Buck, of Ramona, Oklahoma Calvin Gosvener and Jacee Hyde, of Ochelata, Oklahoma Lesia Gosvener of Ochelatea, Oklahoma Grandchildren; Dr. Carissa Bailey and husband Randy Richard Gosvener Candace Hope River Gosvener Camryn Sarnie Bonus Grandchildren; Eddy, Sheyenne, Acelynn, Brielle, and Cambree Sisters; Pat Mefford and husband Bill, of Talala, Oklahoma Rita Gosvener, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jessie Gosvener, George Gosvener, and Eddie Gosvener, sisters, Deloris Smith and Linda Goforth, great grandbaby Bailey, mother-in-law Sue Morgan, and father-in-law Richie Dean. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Vera Full Gospel Fellowship in Vera, Oklahoma, with Jeff Heath officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Calvin Gosvener, Buck Odell, Randy Bailey, J.D. Ball, Bradley Dean, and Everett Almond. Honorary casket bearers will be Richard Gosvener, Camryn Sarnie, Matthew Ball, and David Wilkinson. Committal service and interment will follow at Buck Creek Cemetery in Vera. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Doug’s memory to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
