Ginger Neighbors

'Virginia Ann â€œGingerâ€ Neighbors was born June 3, 1947, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Virgil Andrew and Naomi Louise (Trimble) King. She died Monday, December 1, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 67 years. Ginger completed her secondary education in Tulsa and graduated with the McClain High School Class of 1965. She was married April 22, 1966, in Tulsa to Marion Neighbors. She continued her education in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, attending Oklahoma Wesleyan College where she earned her Bachelorâ€™s degree in behavioral science. For several years she worked doing social work in several different aspects including, adoption agencies, women in crisis shelters and with Oklahomans for Children and Families. Ginger and Marion had lived in the Collinsville-Owasso area for many years and eventually made their home at Cleora in 2003. Since that time she has been a faithful member of Lake Center Baptist Church and was currently serving as chaplain with her husband. Together they made several mission trips around the country sharing the gospel, specifically in the Rio Grande Valley. Ginger also enjoyed a variety of pastimes including traveling, fishing, boating and spending time with friends. More important was spending time with her family and her role as daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.Loving family members include:Her husband of over 48 years; Marion, of the homeSon and daughter-in-law; Scott and Laurie Neighbors, of Copan, OklahomaTwo daughters and sons-in-law; Tona and Adam Sooter, of Bernice, Oklahoma Jennifer and Nick Kosier, of Cleora, OklahomaFive grandchildren; Whitney Flaherty and her husband Kevin, of Kansas City, Missouri Madison Neighbors, of Copan, Oklahoma Levi, Kassidy, and Luke Kosier, all of Cleora, OklahomaMother; Peggy King, of Cleora, OklahomaShe was preceded in death by her father, Virgil â€œJackâ€ King Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2014, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso and from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014, at the Lake Center Baptist Church at Monkey Island. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kim Hays officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Scott Neighbors, Adam Sooter, Nick Kosier, Bob Waller, Chuck Phariss, and Bill Pratt. Committal services and interment will follow at McLaughlin Cemetery in Cleora, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lake Center Baptist Church Mission Fund, 29020 South Highway 125 Monkey Island, Oklahoma, 74331.
