James Carl Boyd

James Carl Boyd was born October 24, 1949, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Loy Carl Boyd and Naomi Gwen Gill Boyd. He died Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Claremore at the age of 74 years. James completed his secondary education in Claremore and graduated with the Claremore High School Class of 1967. He served his country honorably with the United States Army National Guard. James spent most of his professional career as an installation repair technician with Southwestern Bell. He was a faithful member of the Oologah Assembly of God. James enjoyed a variety of pastimes including cattle farming and spending time golfing. James just loved working and staying busy. He also had the unique hobby of raising white-tailed deer. Those he leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include: His wife; Barbara, of the home Daughter; Jennifer Stephens and husband Chris, of Grove, Oklahoma Son; Jason Boyd and wife Jackie, of Verdigris, Oklahoma Stepdaughter; Dana Abshere and husband Glen, of Edmond, Oklahoma Stepsons; Dustin Lester and wife Emily, of Breckinridge, Texas Tyler Edwards and wife Kara, of Canyon, Texas Todd Edwards and wife Erin, of Calhan, Colorado Grandsons; Cooper Puckett, Aiden Boyd, and Ethan Boyd Step grandchildren; Jordan and Wes Abshere Trevyn, Jacob, and Ella Edwards Genessa, Teagan, Colin, and Cora Edwards Lane and Ty Stephens Sisters; Carleen Mitchell, of Claremore, Oklahoma Mary Kinney, of Las Vegas, Nevada He was preceded in death by his parents, Loy and Naomi Boyd, sister, Sandra Walker, and wife Loretta Boyd. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 5, 2024, at Oologah Assembly of God with Pastor Kent Jenson officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Glen Abshere, Wes Abshere, Ethan Boyd, Chris Stephens, Cooper Puckett, Aiden Boyd, Jason Boyd, Dustin Lester, Tyler Edwards, Todd Edwards, Lane Stephens, and Ty Stephens. Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Talala, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made in James’ memory to the UW Golf Tournament, UWRMC, 514 North Lynn Riggs Boulevard, Claremore, Oklahoma, 74017, or at www.uwrmc.org and go to the donation/donate button.
