Loren Edward Epperson

Loren Edward Epperson was born July 16, 1929, in Nowata, Oklahoma, to Charles Loren Epperson and Agnes Clella Bray Epperson. He died Friday, March 17, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years. Loren was reared and educated in Owasso and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1947. He participated in the Owasso Band and played basketball for Owasso, when they were known as the Owasso Owls. Loren was married June 15, 1952, in Owasso to Hazel Louise McCarty. They have made their home together in Owasso since that time where they have raised their family. Loren was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Air Force. He spent most of his working life as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. He was a strong man of faith and was a member of First Church Owasso, formerly First Christian Church. Loren was an active member of the Owasso Masonic Lodge #545. He was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on December 19, 1950. He served as Worshipful Master of the Owasso Lodge in 1959 and until his death was the Senior Past Master of the Lodge, having served for over 72 years. Loren enjoyed a variety of pastimes including woodworking, and was known to his grandchildren as Papa Fix-it. Those he leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include: His loving wife of over 70 years; Hazel Children; Rhonda Atkinson Terry Simeroth Scott Epperson and wife Brenda Grandchildren; Amy Phillips and husband Joe Kristen Hasney and husband Kalil David Atkinson and wife Joann Joey Simeroth, Courtney Simeroth, Lauren Epperson, and Garrett Epperson Great Grandchildren; Cadance Phillips, Nora Phillips, EmmaLee Atkinson, Daniel Atkinson, Margaret Atkinson, Addison Seaman, Hazel Seaman, and Caroline Seaman Sister; (Ret.) Colonel Crystal Epperson He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Merlin Epperson, granddaughter, Lauren Lynn Epperson, and son-in-law, Jerry Simeroth. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Chaplain Jonathan Gibson officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Joey Simeroth, David Atkinson, Garrett Epperson, Daniel Atkinson, Joe Phillips, and Kalil Hasney. Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Loren’s memory to the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, P.O.
