Melba Lou Brumley

'Melba Lou Brumley was born August 13, 1931, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to James Franklin and Pearl Marie Colton Jones. She died Wednesday, September 27, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years. Melba completed her secondary education in Sulphur, Oklahoma, at the Oklahoma School for the Deaf. She was married January 16, 1954, in Hedley, Texas, to Derrell Brumley. They had been faithful members of First Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas, and began a deaf ministry within the church that later became Paramount Baptist Church for the Deaf. Melba spent much of her working life as a registration clerk with the American Quarter horse Association. She and Derrell moved to Skiatook, Oklahoma, in 2003, and became active members of Central Baptist Church in Owasso, Oklahoma. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed time growing and raising flowers in her gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 1:30 Monday, October 2, 2017, at Central Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Scott Carlson officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Bryan Brumley, Aaron Brumley, Alan Brumley, and Shane Kimball. Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas.
