Norma Alice Cox

Norma Alice Cox was born January 28, 1924, in Crawford County, Arkansas, to James Wilson Ballenger and Myrtle Marie Briley Ballenger. She went to be with our Lord, October 14, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 99 years. Norma completed her secondary education in Bixby, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Bixby High School Class of 1942. She was married April 16, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Clifford James Cox. They had made their home in Owasso, Oklahoma, since 1968. Norma spent most of her working life as a homemaker caring for her family. She was a strong woman of faith and was a charter member of Hope Chapel in Owasso. She was very active in prison ministry serving for over 30 years. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including playing cards, dominoes, and all types of games. Norma especially enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and gardening. She was particularly fond of her role as Grandmother to her grandchildren. Those she leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include: Children; Donna Daminski and husband Ronald, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Glenda Ireton and husband Brigadier General, Ret. Robert Ireton, of Seely, Texas Linda Brown and husband Mike, of Jenks, Oklahoma Stuart Cox and wife Gayla, of Katy, Texas Grandchildren: Mariah Clark and husband Rustin Mareah Shropshire and husband Doug Phylinda Moore Chad Ireton and wife Jessica Joseph Cox and wife Brianna Daniel Cox Carol Cox Bonne Pineda and husband Michael Molly Johnston and husband Dustin Great grandchildren: Shahannah Wilkie Linsey Navarrete and husband Axel Kristen Jones and husband Daniel Abigail Albornoz and husband Thomy Caleb Shropshire, Austin Shropshire, Andrew Shropshire Patrick Clark, Georgia Clark, Neveah Clark, Mary Clark Brooklyn, Audrey, Mabel, and Charlotte Johnston Alexander, Emily, Abigail, and Ethan Ireton Jennifer, Verity, and Eleanor Cox Great great grandchildren: Konai and Ellis Navarrete Sisters: Helen Spencer, of Bend, Oregon Billie Marie “Corky” Parrish and husband Charlie, of Medford, Oregon. Emma Sue "Susie" Cashon of Glenpool, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Myrtle Ballenger, sister, Wilma Butler, and granddaughter, Christina Ireton, and her husband, Clifford James Cox. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Hope Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Don Cason officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Norma’s memory to Hope Chapel, P.O.
