Velma "Mema" Flynn

Velma “Mema” Flynn was born May 16, 1937 in Barry, Texas to Johnnie Malvern King and Ada Belle (Morris) King. She passed from this life on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. Velma was raised and attended school in Pocola, Oklahoma. She was one of nine children and was raised going to church, where she met her wonderful husband. Velma was married on September 11, 1954 in Panama, Oklahoma to Charles James Flynn. Charles, her husband of 65 years, was a pastor for decades and she served alongside him as a caring and faithful Pastor’s wife. She had been faithfully attending Collinsville Free Will Baptist Church for the past 6 years. She spent most of her working life in the home raising her children. Velma enjoyed a variety of past times, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she said, “They were all blessings from heaven given to us to make life enjoyable.” Those she leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include: Her Husband; Charles Flynn, of Collinsville 4 Children; Brenda Willett, of Fort Smith, Arkansas Rhonda Misee and husband Bill, of Derby, Kansas Mona Turrell and husband Mark, of Owasso Terry Flynn and fiancé Ronda Adkisson, of Broken Arrow 14 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren with another on the way Sister; Reba Mize, of Pocola, Oklahoma She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Belle, 2 sisters, Ila and Faye, and 5 brothers, Rayford, Howard, Pete, Leslie, and Billy. Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at Collinsville Free Will Baptist Church in Collinsville, Oklahoma with Pastor Adam Yandell and Pastor Gary Wayne Willett officiating. Graveside Service will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville with Pastor Mark Turrell officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be in Velma’s memory to Clarehouse, 7617 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74133.
