Doris Alene Dickinson

Doris Alene Dickinson was born October 7, 1930, in Iola, Kansas, to Bithel “Doc” Ernest Lorance and Mary Agnes Kramer Lorance. She passed from this life Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years. Doris completed her secondary education in Iola and graduated with the Iola High School Class of 1948. She married the love of her life, Carl Dickinson, on May 6, 1951, in Iola, Kansas, until his passing on March 31, 2011. Together they raised five children, one daughter and four sons. During her working career, Doris was employed by Boeing in Wichita, Kansas, and Shell Oil in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their family life took them across several states including Kansas, Utah, California, and Florida, before making their home in Owasso, Oklahoma, in 1968. Doris loved raising her children and creating a home wherever they lived. She was actively involved in her community. She was a strong woman of faith and a longtime member of Owasso First United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful grandmother who made unforgettable dishes, like her taco salad, which was enjoyed even on holidays. After retirement, Doris and Carl spent a year traveling in their RV with friends and trips with her sister and brother-in-law Leah and Gene. She will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandma, and great grandma. Those she leaves behind who hold a lifetime of memories include: Children; Cathy Columbia and husband Dan, of Claremore, Oklahoma Carl Dickinson and wife Jody, of Bedford, Texas Craig Dickinson and wife Nita, of Bixby, Oklahoma Barry Dickinson and wife Tanya, of Tulsa, Oklahoma Brent Dickinson and wife Brandi, of Claremore, Oklahoma Grandchildren; Jamie McGovern and husband Rob, of Westlake Village, California Douglas Dickinson, of Euless, Texas Dawn Rush and husband Steve, of Collinsville, Oklahoma Cole Dickinson, of Haslet, Texas Annie Donovan, of Venus, Texas Ali Lathers, and husband Lane, of South Haven, Kansas Katie Starns and husband Kaleb, of Tulsa, Oklahoma Colton Dickinson and wife Courtney, of Jenks, Oklahoma Brylee Dickinson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma Casey Connella and husband Matthew, of Tulsa, Oklahoma Morgan Dickinson and fiancé Cody Blair, of Collinsville, Oklahoma 26 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, Bithel and Mary Lorance, sisters, Emma Jean and Leah, and grandson, Gregory Berry. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2026, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel. Serving as casket bearers will be Carl Dickinson, Craig Dickinson, Barry Dickinson, and Brent Dickinson. Graveside service will be held 2:30 that afternoon at Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas.
