Edith Ann "Edi" Bell

Edith “Edi” Easton Sikes Bell (1941-2025), mother to Paul Sikes Jr. (Lisa), Craig Sikes (Linda) and Sharla Newkirk (Bruce), passed away suddenly on June 5, 2025, at her home at the Baptist Village senior living community in Owasso, OK. Known for her unreserved friendliness, daily prayer life and love of quilting, Edi will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Edi’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. In addition to her three children, Edi is survived by her sisters, Georgia Baker & Patricia Robertson of Coffeyville, KS and Jane (Don) Owen of Owasso, OK, her 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and her dear friends at the Baptist Village of Owasso. [Edith Ann Easton, third child of Pete Easton and Helen (Henson) Easton, was born in Coffeyville, KS on March 26, 1941. She graduated from Coffeyville High School. That same year she married Paul Dean Sikes of Lubbock, TX, a student at Coffeyville Junior College, and they moved to Texas and started their family. Edi always wanted to go to college to study journalism. Instead she raised three children, was active in the 2nd Baptist Church of Lubbock, and worked as the church librarian for several years. The family moved to Ft. Worth and then DeSoto, TX where they lived until Paul & Edi divorced in 1981. Edi made friends wherever she went. For a time, Edi moved to Walnut Creek, CA and worked in San Francisco. Later she moved to Eureka Springs, AR where she met her second husband Jerry “JC” Bell. They were married in 1990 and remained so until his death in March 2010 in Kerrville, TX. Finally, Edi moved to Owasso, OK in 2015 to be closer to her three sisters. She was an avid quilter (and a bit of a pack rat - collecting a roomful of quilting patterns and material!). Edi also loved to travel and take scenic photographs. Although she lived alone for many years, Edi thoroughly enjoyed time with her family and her many friends at the Baptist Village of Owasso.] A private ceremony will be held at the chapel at the Baptist Village of Owasso, 7410 N. 127th East Avenue
