Fleeta Rae Sunday

Fleeta Rae White was born October 20, 1939 to Freda and Ted White in Hoyt, OK near Stigler where she was raised. Fleeta departed this life for her heavenly home to be with Jesus on August 9, 2023 at age 83. Fleeta is survived by daughters Tami Hall and husband Bob and Juli Edwards, grandchildren Tyler Hall and wife Elizabeth, Jenna Rae Hall, Alexandra Capps and husband Landon, John-Marc Edwards and wife Beka, Mariah Barton and husband Jesse and Tessa Edwards; great-grandchildren Olivia and Mila Hall, Owen, Emory, Brooklyn and Jovie Capps, Liam and Finn Edwards, brothers Jim and Terry Lefler and special friends Jack Montooth, Mona White, Debby Lefler and Cynthia Trammel. Fleeta was preceded in death by husband Ed, son Mark, son-in-law Joe John Edwards, her parents, step-father Leon Lefler, brother Clyde White and sister Sue Hill, sisters-in-law Loretta Shrum and Wilma McBride, brother-in-law Loren Sunday and best friend Barbara Montooth. Fleeta and Ed met on a blind date August 25, 1956 and were married 208 days later on March 20, 1957. They started their lives together in Tulsa where Fleeta worked for Southwestern Bell and Ed worked for the Oklahoma Air National Guard. In 1963 after the girls were born they moved to Owasso where the girls were raised and still reside. Mark joined the family in 1968. Fleeta was a mother and homemaker before going to work for Owasso Public Schools once their kids were in school. Fleeta took great pride in her children, grandchildren and great-grand children and all their activities and accomplishments and loved being Mom and ‘Mimi’. She especially enjoyed occasions when the grandchildren would spend the night…dinner out, a movie or video and private talks in Mimi’s bed until the wee small hours! She felt especially blessed to have become a great-grandmother and for a while, having all her family live in Owasso. Fleeta attended Rejoice Church for over 50 years, where she was the pianist for over 20 years and taught Sunday School classes for several more. Fleeta was on the first Rejoice Christian School Board and several committees at the church. Early on, she had a Good News Club in her home where many children made decisions for Christ. Fleeta embraced the fact that God is Faithful and always gave Him the credit for all the good that came in her life and for carrying her through the not so good times. She obtained her Realtors license in 1978 and worked for 4 different Real Estate Brokers in Owasso during her career and became a top producer for all of them. Her philosophy was, “God sends the clients and I take care of them the best I know how.” She believed “trust“ to be the key to good relationships and that proved itself true in the Real Estate business as she sold homes to and for children and grandchildren of her first clients. Fleeta was a loving wife, a caring and doting mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a woman’s woman and had her very ownfashion flair! Word has it that she was the first lady to wear a pants suit to her church. Her heart was open to the truly down and out and she gave many anonymous gifts to unsuspecting recipients. She especially loved little children and loved talking to them and making them smile wherever she saw them. Fleeta did not try to be a role model or raise the bar, but she definitely had Fleeta’s way of doing things that made her a loved, unique, respected and unforgettable person.
