James "Jim" Bedford Goodin

James “Jim” Bedford Goodin was born November 5, 1951, in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, to Bedford Goodin, Jr. and Willene Goodin. He died at his home on Monday, January 26, 2026, in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 74 years. Jim completed his secondary education in Hammond, Indiana, and was a graduate of Hammond Technical Vocational High School. He continued his education at Purdue University where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in accounting. Jim’s first job in the accounting world was with Standard Oil in the Standard Oil Building in Chicago, Illinois. Over the years as both an expatriate and as a national here in the states, Jim was a well-respected professional having made many dear friends along the way. On August 9, 1975, Jim married his first and only love, Shelby Redman. They were married for 50 years! Jim was a true family man in every sense of the word, and the kind of husband every girl dream of. “The smartest person I ever knew!” He was loving and kind. He was always willing to say “I’m sorry” when he felt he had hurt someone. He was loyal at all times. In all his travels, there was never a concern of his loyalty to his wife and family. Jim accepted Christ as a child and maintained his relationship with God throughout his life. He was a man of strong conviction and proud to stand by his beliefs. His coworkers expressed to him their respect for him in light of his stance even when they did not hold the same Christian beliefs. They noticed that he did not partake of alcohol at special events and that his lifestyle was clean and decent. When asked why, he kindly and gladly shared his biblical view. His integrity stood out. He was honest and fair to work for and with. Before Jim’s decline in health, he greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. Even as a hunter, Jim was a man of kindness and high standards. He never left an animal wounded. He used all of the meat either for the family meals, or it was donated to a cause to feed the hungry. He was a teacher by nature and loved to pass those standards along to his children and grandchildren. In addition to hunting and fishing, Jim loved gathering with his entire family for meals and catching up. The void left by Jim is great, but we are so grateful that he is with his Savior with a new body, no pain, no misery, and no tears. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Friendship Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Linzy Slayden officiating.
