Keith Alan Fry

Keith Alan Fry, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed into the arms of his Savior on July 9, 2026, at 8:10 a.m. Though our hearts are broken by his loss, we find comfort in the incredible life he lived, the love he gave so freely, and the promise that we will see him again. Keith was born on January 14, 1955, at Saint John's Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Marvin Youal Fry and Hazel Elizabeth Fry of Owasso, Oklahoma. As the youngest of four boys, Keith grew up alongside his brothers Wayne, Gary, and Ronald "Ronnie" Fry, who together created lifelong memories. He attended school in Owasso, where he was known for his outgoing personality and countless friendships. Keith excelled in athletics, playing basketball, football, and running track. During his senior year, he earned the honor of being selected to play on the All-State Football Team. He was the first recipient of Jon Kolb Award given annually to the outstanding Owasso Ram football player. Even as a young man, Keith was hardworking, balancing school and sports while working at Wells Food Market in Owasso, stocking shelves, sacking groceries, carrying groceries to customers' cars, and eventually learning—somewhat reluctantly—to run the cash register. But of all the accomplishments Keith would earn throughout his life, nothing meant more to him than family. Soon after graduating, Keith married Kathy Sue Bowers and together they welcomed their first son, Travis, in October 1974. They later welcomed their son Zachary "Zach" in October 1981 and then their daughter, Courtney in October 1982. His children were his reason for everything he did. While raising his family, Keith worked hard to provide for them, first working at Dale and Lee's Heat and Air in Owasso while attending Vo-Tech classes to earn his HVAC license. He later established K.A. Fry Heat and Air, building a business through hard work and determination. He also earned an associate’s degree in Fire Technology from Tulsa Junior College before joining the Tulsa Fire Department on July 17, 1978, where he proudly served his community for 28 years. Yet no matter how busy life became, family always came first. For Travis, Zach, and Courtney, whether they were fishing, camping, going to work with Dad, or simply spending time together, Keith made life exciting. He had a gift for turning ordinary days into unforgettable memories. His children always knew they were deeply loved. Keith found love when he began dating Barbara “Bobbie” Stephens (now Fry), and from that moment on, they built a life centered on love, family, and togetherness. They were married on September 6, 2005, in Miami, Oklahoma, and spent the next 20 years creating a home filled with laughter, memories, and the people they loved most. They began their life in Owasso Oklahoma, but later they bought a small trailer ‘the love shack’ and moved it to their land in Cleveland Oklahoma, where they later built their home. Keith loved Bobbie deeply, as she did him, and they were always seen together. They rarely did anything separately because they loved just being with each other. Traveling with friends and family, fishing, or having people out to the house were some of their favorite things to do. Keith protected and cared for Bobbie, and like he did with everyone else, just wanted to make her happy in all he did. As much as Keith cherished being a father and a husband, his greatest joy came later in life when he became "Papa." Of all the names he carried—husband, brother, dad, firefighter, uncle, or friend —the title of Papa was his favorite. He loved being a Papa with his whole heart. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and there was nothing he loved more than spending time with them. He showed up for sporting events, celebrated their achievements, and spoiled them whenever he could. He filled their lives by teaching them things they will never forget, filling time together with laughter, creating adventures, and sharing unconditional love. Papa's love knew no limits and he made every grandchild feel special. He was their best buddy, and a source of endless fun. The memories he created with them will live on forever. Keith is survived by his loving wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Fry; his son Travis Fry and daughter in law Kari Fry; his son Zachary "Zach" Fry and wife Raquel Fry; and his daughter Courtney Fry. Papa also leaves behind the grandchildren he adored beyond measure: Caden Fry, Tyler Fry, Kyle Fry, Nash Fry, Jordan Fry, Xavier Fry, and Preston Stephens, as well as his great-grandchildren, Davinee Stephens and Levi Stephens. Keith is also survived by his brothers Wayne and Meredyth Fry, Gary and Anita Fry, and Ronald and Jan Fry, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and more friends than could ever be counted. Keith never met a stranger. If he knew you he probably called you ‘Sister’ or ‘Bud’. That wasn’t because he didn’t know your name, it was because that was just one of his ways of drawing you in and forming a connection. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, riding side-by-sides, telling stories—especially those from his firehouse days—and cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines. His greatest desire was simple: for everyone around him to be happy, to have fun, and to show people they were loved. Though he had been baptized as a child, he chose to publicly reaffirm that faith and was baptized again on June 3, 2026. Today, we rejoice knowing that Heaven welcomed him home with open arms. While there is now a tremendous Husband/Dad/Papa-sized hole in our hearts, we remain grateful beyond words for the years, memories, laughter, lessons, and love we shared with him. Keith taught us that family is life's greatest treasure, and he spent every day showing those he loved exactly how much they meant to him. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Owasso, with a graveside service for family to follow. Keith will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso, Oklahoma. His legacy will not be measured by the work he did, the fires he fought, or the honors he received, but by the love he poured into his family. That love will continue to live on through each of us.
