Mable Lorene Bohannan

Mable Lorene Bohannan was born January 20, 1923, in Seymour, Missouri, to William Leonard Oliver and Mattie Snow Oliver. She died Monday, June 22, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the grand age of 103 years. Mable was reared and educated in Tulsa, where she graduated with the Central High School class of 1941. As a teenager, she lived with her older brother, Clarence, and his wife, Bernice — an experience that she recalled with deepest gratitude for making her into the strong, hard-working young woman she would remain for the rest of her life. She was married January 27, 1947, in Bakersfield, California, to Richard Burl Bohannan. Their beloved daughter Teresa was born in 1950. Later in life, Mable and Burl were known as “Dado and Nana,” playing an active role in the lives of their grandchildren, Danny, Keith and Julie. Mable worked at McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. She spent most of her professional career as an accountant with Dowell Chemical Company, retiring after 32 years. A survivor through and through, Mable met life's hardships with strength and was rarely without a circle of friends and family. She loved music, especially western swing, and in her youth could be found dancing to Bob Wills on Friday nights at Cain's Ballroom. She was a strong woman of faith and had attended Southeast Free Will Baptist Church in Tulsa before joining Rejoice Church in Owasso. She and Burl treasured time with her extended family, and spent many weekends at their house in Spavinaw close to her brother Leonard Oliver and his wife Martha. Later in life, she and Burl enjoyed travel and were active with the Trails End Ramblers RV Club. Mable also adored her “card ladies” group, playing cards with them at least monthly for over twenty years. Those she leaves behind who hold a lifetime of memories include: Daughter; Teresa Edwards, of Tulsa, Oklahoma Grandchildren; Danny Edwards and wife Amanda, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma Keith Edwards and fiancé Alec Watson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma Julie Edwards-Kommer and husband Frank Kommer, of Tulsa, Oklahoma She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Burl Bohannan, two sisters, Lela Cox and Alma Britt, two brothers, Leonard Oliver and Clarence Oliver, and son-in-law Buddy Edwards. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Rejoice Church in Owasso with Pastor Leonard Pirtle officiating. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. that afternoon at the Tahlequah Cemetery in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
