Maxine Marie Ellis

Maxine Marie Whinery Ellis was the oldest of four children born to Earl Newton Whinery and Marie Georgia McDonald Whinery on March 11, 1931, in Canute, Oklahoma. She graduated from Dill City High School in 1949 and later that year on October 1 she would marry her high school sweetheart, Sidney Ellis. They made their home in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas before settling in Owasso, Oklahoma, for their final destination. They were blessed with three children and enjoyed 71 years of marriage. Maxine, like her mother before her, was an accomplished seamstress constructing delights for her family from doll clothes to clothing, upholstery to quilts, and in recent years many pillow “softies” for the children’s ward at a hospital. The family gatherings were highlighted by the food Maxine would prepare. One of her many specialties was pie. Her pie crusts and fillings were prize-winning worthy. She devoted much of her time to the life work she and Sidney had chosen in ministry. Maxine could always be counted on in any supportive role requested of her. She was also a very active Bible class teacher where small children were treated to thoughtful lessons planned with love. She was also a graduate of the Owasso School of Biblical Studies. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sidney Dwayne, her sister Goldie May Cook, and son Max Dwayne (and Bonnie) Ellis. Maxine’s memory will be honored by those who survive her: son, Ken (and Debbie) Ellis and daughter, Janice (and Mal) Hardin; three grandsons, Marc (and Sherry) Ellis, Lucas Ellis, Titus (and Marcie) Ellis; four granddaughters, Stacey (and Jason) Parris, Alissa (and Marcus) Crawford, Amy (and Kurk) Ziegler, and Susan (and Will) Peacock; thirteen great grandchildren, Mason (and Asia) Ellis, Levi Ellis, Erica (and James) Brady, Cole (and Starr) Parris, Sydney, Rylie, and Evan Crawford, Sylvain and Remy Ziegler, Willow and Quinn Peacock, and Joe and G Ellis; five great-great grandchildren; brother Robert Lee (and Carleene) Whinery, sister Earlene Kay (and Pat) Moore, and sister-in-law Billie Ellis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
