Sandra "Sandy" Kay Sewell

Sandra “Sandy” Kay Armstrong Patton Sewell was born October 10, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to James Douglas Armstrong and Margie Estelle Cypert Armstrong Fry. She joined our Lord and Saviour on February 26, 2026, in Locust Grove, OK, at the age of 85 years. Sandy was raised in Tulsa, OK, where she attended Webster High School and then graduated from Central High School. One week after graduation, she married Dan Howard Patton, Sr., on June 7, 1958, with whom she had a son and a daughter. Sandy worked for the National Bank of Commerce in Tulsa and studied banking at the University of Tulsa. She then worked in the business office of Anchor Paint Manufacturing in Tulsa for almost two decades. She married Charles Richard Sewell, Sr., on July 9, 1975, in Tulsa, OK, and embraced his three sons as her own. Together, in 1977, they purchased and, with the help of Sandy’s savvy business skills, they built Tulsa Utility Contractor, Inc. (Tulsa Utility) into a thriving business. Sandy served as the Secretary Treasurer for Tulsa Utility as well as being a member of Tulsa Utility’s Board of Directors for 45 years until the business was sold at the end of 2022. Sandy was very artistically creative and participated in ceramics, doll lace-draping, quilting, painting, and other artistic pursuits throughout her life. She was joyfully active for years in the Quarterback Club for Lewis & Clark Junior High and was honored to serve as the Oklahoma Grand Guardian of Job’s Daughters. Sandy was a graduate of the Bible Study Fellowship program and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved thoroughly researching and documenting her family’s genealogical ancestry. Sandy served as an ordained Elder of the John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Tulsa for several decades. Throughout the years, alongside her husband Charlie, Sandy was the driving force who worked fastidiously in the background and supported the activities of the many organizations that her family participated in including the Akdar Shrine which serves the needs of children in the Tulsa area. Her favorite place to be was on her screened-in porch (she called it her “little slice of heaven”) where she could enjoy watching all of God’s nature around her including animals, plants, and beautiful flowers. She lived her life in service to others and made a profound difference in helping others get on the right path. She was an inspiration to all those in her life. Sewell, Jr. (Annetta) of Verdigris, OK, Tom Sewell (Jan) of Keystone, OK, Andy Sewell (Ronica) of Broken Arrow, OK, and David Wilson (Durenda) of Skiatook, OK; Grandchildren, Chelsea Patton & Chance Patton of Jenks, OK, Evan Sewell, Wade Sewell (Kasey), Dana Lichtenwalter (David), Ashley Zoller (Josh), Andrea (Annie) Wright (Aaron), Alex Sewell (Regan), Rob Sewell (Wacey), Kelli Wilson, Korey Wilson (Bailey), Taylor Wise (Faith), Nick Wise (Jen), Austin and Amelia Hasch, and 26 Great Grandchildren. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie her husband of over 46 years, her son-in-law Philip Drew McCort, daughter-in-law Angela Walden Sewell, grandson Keith Wilson, and great grandson Beckett Sewell.
